We had the chance to put these two rifles side by side to see how similar and different they are the standard Steyr AUG P from the 1980s and the MSAR STG-556 made in the USA currently. The MSAR STG-556 is an AUG A1 clone manufactured by Microtech Small Arms Research Inc. The two rifles look very similar but their parts are not interchangeable. The major differences are the sights and the additional parts on the STG-556. The Steyr AUG has a built in optic / carry handle, where the STG-556 has an accessory rail (MIL-STD-1913 rail). The STG-556 has some additional parts including a forward assist and a bolt hold-open device like the AR15/M16.

We had a chance to photograph this LaRue Tactical AR15 at the 2009 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Phoenix, Arizona. LaRue Tactical AR15 uses the LaRue LT-15 AR15 lower receiver which is CNC-Machined from 7075 Aluminum. The LaRue Tactical design is reinforced in critical areas or the AR15 receiver. The LaRue LT-15 has a flared magwell, enhanched trigger guard for operation with gloves, a reinforced buffer tube area, Type-3 hard coat anodized in deep-black and is subject to stringent quality control processes including test-fitting to their Stealth uppers to insure fit, function and a color match. LaRue Tactical AR15 uses many high quality LaRue Tactical parts including; a CNC-machined Stealth Billet Upper (LT-007), LT Free-float Handgaurd, Barrel, Low-Profile Gasblock and Tube, Mil-Contract M16 Bolt Carrier Group and Charging Handle.
